I have been using clonezilla for some years and now is time for a new USB drive.
I am trying to use a Seagate 1DXAP4-500 4TB drive - I have tried manual and tuxboot but whatever option I use I cant boot to that drive. If I use the same process on a small 320G drive it boots without problem.
I assume that there must be some sort of drive compatibility problem here but cant find details / advice.
Any suggestions on using this seagate drive would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Julian

Please give testing Clonezilla live a try:
    http://clonezilla.org/downloads.php
They come with newer Linux kernel so it might support your hardware better.

It wont auto boot, if I try to force a USB boot (via f12 boot menu) I get a no boot sector on usb device error.

Which file system do you have on that disk?
I did not pay attention to what you have mentioned "4 TB", Now I read that. It's larger than a legacy BIOS can handle, which is 2.2 TB. Therefore you need to use uEFI booting for that, and have a GPT partition table on that disk.
    Steven.
