I'm wondering if it's possible to restore a local cloned partition into a different partition than the original partition. For example, I'm cloning partition sda5. Everything has been cloned correctly. Now, I want to restore this image into a different partition, let's say sda8. When I run the Clonezilla wizard, and choose the mode clonezilla-restore-parts, it wants to put the image right where it took it from (in this case, sda5). Is there any way to select a target partition for restoration?

My noobie approach - so far - has been to edit the "parts" file and make it have sda8 instead of sda5. Then, I renamed the files inside my clone image folder to sda8.aa   sda8.ab  and so on - instead of their original names sda5.aa  sda5.ab  .If I run the wizard again to clonezilla-restore-parts, it points correctly to my desired partition sda8. When it finishes, everything has been restored (copied) to this partition sda8. Now, I'm wondering if there is any problem with my approach. Does anyone else know how to restore to a different partition without having to go through all this renaming???
