I want to clone my desktop to a brand new laptop.
First, should I erase and format the laptop or will Clonezilla do that automatically?
Second, the usb boot will go in the laptop and the laptop is the target and the desktop is the source - correct?
Thanks for your time and effort in creating this software.

As for your questions,
1. Clonezilla will do that automatically. It will overwrite all the data on the target disk.
2. Yes. But are you doing disk to remote disk cloning via network ? Or ?
///NOTE/// It's recommneded to backup important data before you do any cloning job. Just in case.
Steven.

No, you can not use USB cable to connect those two machines... either by network cable, or you have to use an external USB storage device to be the temp storage space. i.e. to save disk as image on the storage, then attach the storage device on the new machine, and restore the image to the new disk.

I was hoping just to connect the two computers with a USB cable.
