I did a backup of my Fedroa KDE 25 using clonezilla stable - 2.5.0-25. When I re-installed and it booted backup I only got grub > and not the menu. What did I do wrong?

What version did you use? Do you have an UEFi or MBR based system? If you have UEFI you have to use the alternative stable amd64 version (ubuntu based). I use this version anyway: I have Debian on an old MBR PC but the Alternative Version 64 bit works very well... But, I repeat, if your system is UEFI based you MUST use the Alternative 64 bit... Otherwise the restore will fail.
But if the restore keeps on failing, try to format the USB (as fat32) or use a different stick. I had this problem with a previous version and I solved formatting my USB.
A good tool to have a working Clonezilla USB is Rufus (Windows only).
Let me know if the issue is fixed!
Cheers,
Bert
P.S. If the grub fails to load and you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel :-), I suggest to use the SuperGrub2Disk. It's an easy way to reinstall the grub.
If this is a bug of Clonezilla I'm pretty sure they will fix it in the next release.

I have a MBR based. I'll try the alternate satble version and see if that helps. Thanks for your input on the SuperGrub2Disk
