Hello,
I have been using CloneZilla Live 1.2.1-47 without a problem for awhile now. Today I ran into an issue trying to make an image of a Lenovo T400 Thinkpad laptop. I have always created the image to our network via samba server. Today I got an error part way through making the image. Details are below...
[ 800.528047] CIFS VFS: server not responding
[800.533188] CIFS VFS: no response to cmd 4 mid 36907
[800.538468] CIFS VFS: Send error in close = -11
It did end up finishing the image. I don't know yet if the image is any good because I haven't dropped it back to a T400 yet. I hope it is ok, because we have to drop it to over 100 laptops in less than a week!
I imaged it again and it did the same thing. I don't know if it did it in the same spot though.
Please let me know what this error means and if there is a way to correct it.
Thanks,
Doug

I tried a third time and it still did it. However, it looked to be at a different time, but real close to the other. It does it around the 35% range. One was 35% and the other time it was 33%. Not sure if this helps.
Also, I took the same pc (T400) and made an image to an external HD without a problem... I did NOT get the error. So, it only creates this error when making the image to the network using a Lenovo T400. I have made several images to the same network without any problems, but they were different model laptops... Still Lenovo, but different model.
Here is what interesting. The image I created where the error happened seems to be ok. I dropped the image to a T400 and the T400 boots up to XP pro without any issues... so far anyway. So, I would like to know for 100% sure that this image is ok.
Any information anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Doug

I guess maybe the network card on your T400 is not well supported by the kernel on CloneZilla Live 1.2.1-47. Maybe you can try the 1.2.1-53 or even testing/experimental Clonezilla live.

I downloaded -53 and it seemed to address the issue. It did not throw any errors while making the image. I saw it pause once for about 10-15 seconds, but then it picked right back up. So I'm pretty confident this version addressed the issue.
Thanks!
Doug
Oh yea, on the image I made that DID throw the errors... I dropped that image back to a laptop without an issue. The laptop boots fine and seems to run fine, so it may be a mute point anyway. However, I'm more confident with the image I created using -53.
