Clonezilla Live reports an error when I attempt to restore a partition from an image file that is located on a Samba share. I've already saved the XP partition to the Samba share via "saveparts" and now I'm in the process of restoring the image file on a different machine.
Here are the steps I take to attempt to restore the image file:
1) Choose "device-image"
2) Choose "samba_server"
3) Enter samba share info - this operation completes successfully, and my Samba-shared folder "images" is mounted at /home/partimag.
4) Choose "restoreparts"
5) Select the image file to restore ("blahblah..._sda1_sda2_sda3")
After choosing the image file in step (5), the following error appears:
"Error! No unmounted partition(s) are found! To use Clonezilla to save or clone a partition, the source partition must be unmounted!
Press "Enter to exit..."
What is causing this error, and how do I restore this partition without running into the error?
Thanks,
Devon

Devon,
When you got the error messages:
"Error! No unmounted partition(s) are found! To use Clonezilla to save or clone a partition, the source partition must be unmounted!
Press "Enter to exit..."
Please enter command line prompt, then run:
1. sudo su -
2. mount
3. parted -s /dev/sda print
Please post the results of (2) and (3).
Steven.

I eventually figured out that the drive I was restoring to was raw (not partitioned / formatted yet), so I used "fdisk" to setup the partitions. After partitioning, I got a little bit further into the process, then ran into some other issues and read on another forum that GPT (Guid Partition Table) is not supported by CloneZilla. My MacBook Pro uses GPT so this seemed like a show-stopper.
Since I had a spare copy of Windows XP lying around, I decided to go ahead and use BartPE / Drive XML to move the image instead.
Thanks for providing such a great product and service,
Devon

Hi Devon,
Clonezilla supports GPT, as we mentioned, it can save and restore intel-based Mac OS... However, I am not sure the if the Windows on a Mac will make any difference or not...
