Clonezilla version: Stable release (.iso) – 2.1.0-26
Source: HP harddrive
Destination: Toshiba external usb hard drive
Hi everyone, I ran into a lot of problems when trying to clone our HP system.
After several attempts, for some reason the system loaded Clonezilla Live with no issues and we attempted to proceed for cloning but ran into several messages. I'll provide screenshots so hopefully it'll clear up the questions up.
As you can see, this is the layout that came up. The sda1 is the external harddrive (Toshiba 1000gb).
The rest is the raid hard drives on the HP system. We choose sda1 at this step to mount as the Clonezilla Image Repository.
Here's the information from the HP system hard drive setup we're trying to clone. This is not booting with the Clonezilla info.
Along the way, we ran into these errors for some of the drives.
Partclone fail. Failed to use partclone program to save or restore image. Reisertsclone. C: Filesystem isn't in valid state. May be it is not cleanly mounted.

This partition in the image is broken: sdb3. The image magic error: This file is NOT partclone image.
Near the end of the Cloning
Image was saved by dd. No need to check the file system integrity.
*********
Broken partition images were found, or some of them were not checkable in this image.
Note: For the step below, we chosed SKIP CHECKING. Would this have helped fixed the errors above?
“Choose if you want to check and repair the file system before saving it. This option is only for certain file systems which are well supported by fsck on GNU/Linux, like ext2/3/4, reiserfs, xsf, jfs, vfat. Not for NTFS, HFS+ …
Advance mode: save disk
Skip checking/ repairing source file system
fsck-src-part interactively check and repair source file system before repair
fsck-src-part y Auto (Caution!) check and repair source file system before saving

Ouch, that sucks. Do you know of any good software raid clones for linux?
How can you tell if its software raid? How come sda6 copied over and nothing else? I wonder if I got the main image hard drive…that would be luck. I just need to figure out how to restore the image.

I've never heard of partclone will look into it. Btw, given that all the sda drives were clone with the exception of 1 and 3, I'll give your advice a shot regarding using the fsck-src-part y to repair the source file.
Do you know if this will impact anything in the system? Will it revert or unmount to original specs after cloning is complete?

Partclone is the imaging/cloning program used in Clonezilla to process the partition. You could manually run it for your partitions.
"Do you know if this will impact anything in the system? Will it revert or unmount to original specs after cloning is complete?" -> Not very sure… Sorry.
Steven.

So after the process was complete, I checked the used space on the USB harddrive, and it shows 825mb so it was some success.
Next question, is how do I restore it? Its an image.
Looks like your RAID is software RAID. Clonezilla so far has not yet support software RAID. Sorry.
Steven.

I have no idea about any good software for RAID clone.
It's possible you can use partclone manually to clone the device…
Steven.
