Curious as to why tmp image needs to be created ?

I backed up a partition nvme0n1p3 to an image and immediately restored it (saved image to original partition).
It went well and did it. But I am curious to a prompt in the middle;
Creating a tmp clonezilla image
"2026-07-27-img-tmp-cnvted"
based on the image "2026-07-27-img"
so that we can restore the image "2026-07-27-img"
(was saved from nvme0n1) to nvne0n1 ...
Why does it need to do this ? (nothing has changed) and why does it need to ask me before doing it ?
