Hello,
restoring the default 'Microsoft basic data' partition of a Windows 11-only drive sometimes leads ntfsfix to fail when it is restored with -r -icds -k1 parameters:
Now clear the NTFS volume dirty flag: /dev/nvme0n1p3...
Running: ntfsfix -d /dev/nvme0n1p3
Mounting volume... OK
Processing of $MFT and $MFTMirr completed successfully.
Error: Failed to fix the alternate boot sector
Checking file system overflow... FAILED
It seems to be harddisk related. The issues exists on a ThinkCenter hardware but not on a VMWare VM.
It seems to be a problem with the filesystem to partition size aligning, that leads ntfsfix to not determine the alternate boot sector.
Kind regards,
Patrick
Thanks for your report.
Which version of Clonezilla live did you use?
I used 20260705-resolute, 20260913-resolute and 20260928-stonking.
