Tested on the clonezilla-live-2.7.2-39-amd64.iso
release.
I have a KVM switch set up at my workstation. When switching away from Clonezilla and back to it, I noticed that the screen would have no input and would go into power-save mode. When the KVM is bypassed and the cable is disconnected, the issue happens as well. The same goes for booting without a monitor.
In short, if Clonezilla ever doesn't have an active monitor that it is outputting to, it will not be able to display video output again until the system is rebooted. I have tested this on both GPU and mobo DisplayPort outputs, and another machine with its mobo HDMI output. All tests were conducted after the GRUB selection, when Clonezilla is sitting on the blue "Which language do you prefer:" prompt.
If y'all need any logs I'm happy to oblige. It isn't a critical issue by any means but it does affect my workflow, as I'm locked to a single machine while Clonezilla does its stuff.
Have you tried to use the keys "ctrl-alt-F2" to switch the console to the 2nd virtual console?
Then you should be able to see a login prompt to show, just press enter to see if it's active.
Once that works, then press "ctrl-alt-F1" to back to the main console where Clonezilla job is run.

Well I don't know what to say. I can't get it to replicate this behavior again. I guess there was something unique about my setup that was causing this error? I thought I'd narrowed the cause down but I guess it isn't Clonezilla after all. Apologies for taking up your time.
No problem. Please remember to try the workaround I mentioned if you encounter this issue again.

Hi. I know this is an old thread and will probably not get attention, but here goes nothing...
I have experineced exactly the same. I am cloning 10 windows 11 pc's, and everything was going fine. I didnt want to leave the screens on overninght, so i turned the monitors off.. and now the signal is dead, no matter if I use DP or HDMI. the solution posted above doesn't work... is there anyone with the sam issues?
So maybe you need to wake up your monitor by sending some signal. For example, you can switch to virtual console 2 by pressing Ctrl-Alt-F2. Then it's in the command line prompt, just press enter key. Your monitor should get the signal and it should show you the console.
You can switch back to virtual console 1 where Clonezilla is run by pressing Ctrl-Alt-F1.
