Please note that if you see the above horrors in your editor, you're in =
serious danger of damaging source files if you save them after adding or =
editing some Umlauts.
The reason is that the file may afterwards contain Umlauts encoded as =
UTF-8 and others as ISO-8859-1.  In other words the format became =
corrupted, and somebody will need to go through it by hand and fix it.

So you really should tell your editor to open the file with the correct =
encoding.
