clamscan using too much cpu with clam sentinel?

I am using latest clam sentinel 1.22 with 0.98.6 clamwin. My problem is that i noticed that my pc is hardly ever idle in cpu usage meaning that a lot of times 20% +cpu usage is always like that. I looked in taskmanager and it seems that clamscan.exe sometimes runs every 7 seconds, goes away, and then comes up again. I stopped clamsentinel from the menu and it stopped the clamscan.exe from running. So how can i keep clamsentinel running without this extra process runnning which is taking up too much cpu and memory? Thanks for any good replies. Note i am running this on win 8.1 pro 32 bit atom 3735f and 2gb ram 32gb ssd.
Hello:
As I said in the ClamWin forum, I think you should see what the Clam
Sentinel Message Log and Real-Time log say when Sentinel is scanning all
the time. Perhaps one or two programs/files are responsible for the
excessive scanning. If they are, then you can whitelist the folders/files
that are causing the problem.
If you are using another AV with Clam Sentinel, you can whitelist the AV's
folders (program and data) in Clam Sentinel. Also white list the ClamWin
temp file (clamtmp) from the other AV if you can whitelist it--some AVs
will not let you whitelist just an extension like clamtmp. The clamtmp
file is where ClamWin puts virus signatures temporarily while scanning, and
some AVs will trigger on a signature now and then.
Let me know how it goes.
