On August 22, 2014 CIGI became an international standard through the Simulation Interoperability Standards Organization (SISO). The new standard is known as SISO-STD-013-2014, and is contain in the Common Image Generator Interface, version 4.0 interface control document. The CIGI web site and project pages have been updated. The ethereal plugin has been removed from the downloads section; the plugin is no longer distributed separately because ethereal, now known as wireshark, ships with built-in CIGI support. The CIGI product pages have been updated to reflect the latest version numbers. Lastly, the CIGI wiki has been restored, and is now based on MediaWiki.

On the web site http://www.hans-born.de there is a new version of the X-Plane extension "xCIGI" for CIGI 3.2. It implements a few useful packets and we have used it in some internal sim setups successfully.

CIGI support has been added to Ethereal (www.ethereal.com), an open source network analyzer. This version of CIGI-Ethereal supports CIGI versions 2 and 3, and can now be downloaded from the CIGI sourceforge project page (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=39061&package_id=172526).
There will be a SISO CIGI Study Group meeting (to continue standardization discussions) during I/ITSEC this year from 2:30 to 5:00 PM on Tuesday, November 29th. The meeting will be located in conference room 3165 (in the exhibition hall) at the conference center. All are welcome to attend.
A CIGI booth will be set up in the Boeing exhibit area at the upcoming 2005 I/ITSEC conference (http://www.iitsec.org/). In addition, there will be a presentation in the new I/ITSEC tutorial format: Implementing the Common Image Generator Interface (CIGI). This tutorial will be given on Monday, November 28 at 9:45 AM. Version 1.5 of the CIGI Class Library (CCL) has been relased and is available on the downloads page (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=39061&package_id=112316). The CCL source code files have also been made available on CVS (http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/cigi/).
There was a SISO CIGI study group meeting held at I/ITSEC 2004 (http://www.iitsec.org/). The proceedings have been posted on the SISO CIGI reflector (http://www.sisostds.org/).
The first release (v. 3.1.1) of the CIGI 3 Host Emulator is now available.
Version 2.1.8 of the CIGI 2 Host Emulator has also been released. This replaces version 2.1 beta 7.
Source code and Visual C++ 6 projects are now available for both versions.
Boeing will host a SISO CIGI Study Group meeting at I/ITSEC 2004. The meeting will be held in the Boeing Suite on Tuesday Dec. 7th from 8:00 to 11:30 in the morning.
CIGI 3.1 Appendix III is available on the specifications page (http://cigi.sourceforge.net/specification.html). This addendum contains corrections to version 3.1 of the ICD. The current version contains changes that address an inconsistency with the Animation State parameter of the Entity Control packet.
The CIGI Advisory Council is set to have a charter meeting at the upcoming SISO Simulation Interoperability Workshop (SIW) this Fall on September 24, 2004 from 8 AM to noon. The CIGI 2 Host Emulator beta 7 has been released and can be downloaded from the Summary page.
The CIGI Class Library (CCL) has been released and is available on the project download page (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=39061&package_id=112316). The Class Library is still in Beta (beta 1.1) and is still being tested at this time. It supports version 3 of CIGI, and handles translations between different versions of CIGI. Appendix III to the CIGI 3 ICD has been posted at http://cigi.sourceforge.net/specification.html. This appendix contains corrections to the ICD that will be incorporated into the next release. The appendix may be updated periodically.
Appendix II for the CIGI ICD Version 3 is now avilable (http://cigi.sourceforge.net/specification.html), and lists the changes to the interface from version 2 to 3.
