Hello,
Several of you have been aware of several issues clouding
the future of the Chromium contract with VA Linux and you have been
patient with me not directly addressing the issue. It is now possible
for me to directly address any questions you might have.
So, I am very happy to announce that the contract
previously placed with VA Linux to cover Chromium efforts has
been re-established with RedHat. We believe that with RedHat
involved, the problems encountered with VA Linux can be
avoided in the future. The development efforts continues
as before lead by Brian Paul with the help of Alan Hourihane
at RedHat, as many of you may have noticed from the development
email traffic. I should note that Brian is not a RedHat
employee, but that he has been sub-contracted for this contract.
Work will continue as noted previously to provide features key
in the hardening of Chromium, no changes have been made in the
statement of work.
Suffice to say that a number of people worked very hard
to get this effort back on track and I would like to express
my appreciation to all of them, and thank them for their patience
with me over the last few months. As I stated before, we are
very excited to see this effort continuing and the results
of their efforts are already quite visible with the inclusion
of features such as multi-context support.
As before, if you have any questions regarding these
changes, please let me know and I will try to answer them as
best I can.
Thanks.
rjf.
