Hi Steve, I am a programmer that lives in Lafayette, IN. I can definitely help you with your projects. I live close enough that I can drive to Chicago as needed and work from home as needed. I would be more than happy to talk to you about your opportunity. Hi there! I¹m the web development manager for WCIU, The U. We¹re currently looking to form some lasting relationships with PHP and front-end coders in Chicago for some short and long term projects. Some of these projects will require some work on-site, but for the most part after kick-off they¹ll be do-able as off-site projects. We¹re not looking for companies, more like one or two individuals that we can build up some institutional history with. We¹ve got some exciting projects coming up! Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself. If you¹re a freelancer, and are comfortable with PHP, drop me an email to introduce yourself and we can go from there. Currently we¹re looking for people who not only work with PHP, but have experience coding complex front-end pieces using table-less layouts. An understanding of Javascript libraries is a big plus as well. Take care, Steve Gadlin |

My current day job doesn't even let me check email at work, and I've had an instant family the last year, so I've really failed to keep this going... I will do what little I can to help make meetings happen, but could definitely use any help anybody can provide. I think Threadless (or any other location proposed) is a FINE idea. Let me ask this question: How many people are opposed to having the next meeting at Threadless office, 4043 N Ravenswood ave? I may be able to get another venue but Threadless space is pretty cool.. |

I will get someone from either host organization to give a talk as well. Both Sittercity and Threadless have interesting things they do with PHP. Out of curiosity, what are the other big PHP shops in Chicago? Info.com Threadless Sittercity ... ... ? We should try and spread the meeting lovin around.. I'm interested in item 2, just because I've grown to dislike ob_start(). One of the ways that PHP developers try to improve the readability, structure, and flow of their code is to separate php from html, and the ob_* functions seem to work directly against that. 2008/11/4 Peter Snyder <sn...@gm...> > I would come to this meeting. I would come to this meeting. I have never attend before, and assumed that they had stopped happening, but if there is something I can do to make this meeting happen, please let me know. Hey gang, Sorry for our venue not being available for meetings anymore and sorry for dropping off map for a while. Are we having a meeting this month? I've got a couple of topics I'd love to talk about and get feedback on. I spoke with Harper and Skinny Corp (Threadless) is willing to host this months meeting if anyone wants to make the trek to Ravenswood. I'm sure Sittercity could also host as well in North Riverside neighborhood if people really didnt want to do SkinnyCorp. (But their office space is really cool and worth the trip to see). I have 3 possible talks I could give: 1) Distributed Session management and dealing with locking vs AJAX concurrency. 2) The value of ob_start() and how it can help make you a better developer. 3) In depth logging walk through. What'd you guys think? -jason |

Try phpXref or phpDoc. Both FOSS. I've used phpXref to cross reference a 100 ksloc project. The project was nearly comment-free, so I feel your pain. For refactoring, Komodo IDE (free) has "Find in files" functionality that you can tweak to only search certain directories. Use grep -ir if you're a command line type. Otto Monnig IntegriCor, LLC |
