I get "unknown rectangle encoding 1593839393" when using Chicken to connect to a PC with TightVNC 2.0.4 server installed.

It happens very often and usually when the PC has been idle for some time.

This error does not happen with JollysFastVNC viewer.

What version of Chicken are you using? If it is before 2.2b2, can you try to replicate it with version 2.2b2 and see what error you get? It might have additional information along the lines of "Previous encoding was..."

We see the same thing with 2.2b2 and x11vnc on Fedora 16 which I believe is built against tigervnc 1.1.0. We have to disable ZRLE, Tight, Zlib, and Hextile encodings to be reliable it seems from a quick test. There are no "Previous" encoding messages".
