One place to look is /scripts/dojo-0.3.1/chiba/upload.js. This is a dojo component and contains the functionality of the upload itself. It is called by FluxInterface.js which is responsible for submitting the form. If you like to look into it and need more pointers please let me know. Unfortunately i've not found much time yet to test on IE cause my normal dev machine is a mac.
