Thanks Jens, I'm looking forward to the release of the new version, though I'm happy with the current one. I noticed, perhaps out of ignorance, that it is hard to select and import games in one database into another. Will this be addressed? Thanks,Richard -----Original Message----- From: jens-chessx <jen...@gm...> To: chessx-developer <che...@li...> Sent: Sat, Feb 2, 2019 12:05 pm Subject: [chessx-developer] Translations needed Dear friends of ChessX! Hi A day ago (Sept 26, 2018) it stopped working. The application tries to start, it shows in the task bar (thumbnail says "Clipboard - ChessX"), but nothing further happens. PGNs won't open, nothing. I'm running Windows10 on an Asus laptop, 64-bit operating system. Has anyone else experienced this? I've been using the application "ChessX" for a year now and have really enjoyed it. Thanks BillR (hope this is the correct address) |

Hi everybody. I should really aspire to be a developer, but I guess I am nervous about it. Right now I am trying to search position, I can envision a lot of stuff ChessBase has that could be added to the app. I think I might need to download a bigger DB for this strange position. Let's just call this stupid question that doesn't ask a question my dubious introduction. {:} -- Sincerely, Kayven Riese *----------------------------------------------------------* Kayven Riese, MSCS, MS (Physiology and Biophysics) (415) 902 5513 cellular http://kayve.net Webmaster http://ChessYoga.org *----------------------------------------------------------* |

Hello Eduard, when entering a position, far down the dialog is a field which contains a textual description of the Position. And the final line contains the color to move - and the number of pieces! The search is something I need to modify. Hello: I´m using ChessX for the edition and creation of a Chess Problems Database (The Art of Direct Mate in Two Moves (https://sites.google.com/site/edusadier/theartofdirectmateintwomoves) with more than 151.000 problems up to day. It´s a beatiful editor, indeed! It woul be nice and useful, when entering a position, to see the number of white and black pieces (usual charateristic of many programs) Also, It could be very useful a window for searching for problemists for his name 3 first letters. And finally, the two windows for "Save" may be more separated, as to not confuse them. Thanks for all, eduardo sadier, buenos aires, argentina |

Hi Andreas, German (naturally) is usually complete. In case there are bad translations, feel free to suggest better ones. I usually translate "blind", i.e. without looking much at the context. Due to three missing DLLs, I had updated the files a month later without increasing the version count, as no functionality was changed. I had overlooked, that I should have updated the MD5 checksum. So it should be OK, that the checksum does not match for the 64bit Windows installer. Thanks for mentioning this, I'll update the MD5 sum. Hi Eduardo, there already is a chessx_es.ts file which contains a spanish translation. It has not been maintained for some time, but should nevertheless be a good starting point for translation. If you have installed Qt-Creator and you have checked out the latest source repo from subversion, the easiest way would be to right-click Source Files/i18n/chessx_es.ts and select Open with -> Qt Linguist. My Version is Qt Linguist 5.7.0. but the best starting point is definitely installing Qt Creator as it contains all the needed tools ( I hope, that your distribution also contains Qt Linguist, perhaps, it is in an additional package) Regards, Jens > Am 06.12.2016 um 22:59 schrieb eduardo sadier <edu...@gm...>: > > Sir: > I would be very pleased translating ChessX interface to spanish. > The problem is (besides my poor understanding of programation) > that the instructions in your page are impossible to follow: > Where is the "i18n/chessx_xx.ts"??? > How can I run "lupdate chessx.pro -ts -target-language xx > i18n/chessx_xx.ts"??? > Where can I obtain the Linguist software?
