Hello all,
I saw based on the error messages that
the directory structure for Windows ChessX
0.2.0 copied by InnoSetup is wrong,
since the structure is now:

"C:\program\ChessX","C:\programme\ChessX","C:\program files\ChessX" with the subdirectories "data" and "bin"
where ChessX expects "data" to be a subdirectory of
"C:\program\ChessX","C:\programme\ChessX","C:\program files\ChessX" (for Swedish,French and English Windows)
and outputs an error message and does not display the
chess icons or chess pieces...

I saw a similar problem with "View/Player database"
where it does not
have the needed files in "C:\program\bin\tests\playerdatabase\database\players" in Swedish Windows (replace "c:\program" with
"c:\programme" or "C:\program files" etc. if needed)
where ChessX expects to see them...

Best wishes,
Hans Eriksson

What version of Windows do you use?

I have seen that the first works OK on
English Windows XP Professional SP2 (Version 5.1.2600),
but there "View/Player database" fails with
    the same error message
    ("No player database
Player database was not found at
    C:/Program Files/ChessX/tests/playerdatabase/data/players")
    ...

    Best wishes,
    Hans Eriksson

The reason I asked is that I have had a similar report from somebody using Win98. It seems to work fine on later versions of Windows. I will try to create a setup that works on all version, but it will be difficult to test, since I don't have access to Win98. Would you be willing to help with testing?

The second problem seems unrelated, in that the default search place for the player database is quite simply wrong. This will be fixed in next release.

I have uploaded a new version of ChessX installer for version 0.2.0 on Sourceforge. I would be grateful if you could download it and test on both Win98 and XP.

I could do that if ChessX 0.2.0 would be downloadable
    from Sourceforge...

    Best wishes,

Thanks a lot for your feedback and help testing, Hans. I will incorporate your suggestions in the next release of ChessX.
