Well first off the GPL kinda inspires ones to make multiple copies of the same utilities... how many mp3 players are there out there, or mail programs... second... I wanted to do something that i had never done bofore, and there were not many utilities like cheops-ng when cheops (the first one) was started i am starting to look at the monitoring stuff and if it looks like a netsaint back end would be a better way to go, i might go that way... but i have not spent a whole bunch of time on it lately (graduate school takes up too much time right now) Brent -- On Fri, 23 Nov 2001 02:24:37 Michael Boman wrote: >-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- >Hash: SHA1 > >I am just wondering, why is people so interested of re-inventing the wheel? >Why not do something like integrate Cheops-NG with something like Netsaint >(www.netsaint.org) that is also released under GPL? -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I am just wondering, why is people so interested of re-inventing the wheel? Why not do something like integrate Cheops-NG with something like Netsaint (www.netsaint.org) that is also released under GPL? That would give a realible monitoring backend while Cheops-NG rocks for the visual display. Just my $0.02 Best regards Michael Boman - -- Michael Boman Mobile: +65 96942601 750C Chai Chee Road Security Architect Phone : +65 243 6800 #04-01 SecureCiRT Fax : +65 441 5119 Singapore 469003 http://www.securecirt.com mailto:mic...@se...
