#11 Checkgmail does not restore itself after hibernation, etc. p

I am not sure exactly what is the problem is, but
somehow checkgmail does not receive information as the
network connection changes. For instance, if I
hibernate my computer and log back in, gaim is up and
running in a matter of seconds, whereas checkgmail just
displays an error icon in the tray. Maybe integration
with the dbus or Network Manager would be a good
feature if it was not already implemented.

Gaim is able to do this I believe, I tested it and it
seems to work.

I assume you're using swsusp2? (but let me know if you're
not!) There's a bug with network restore in recent versions
of that, one which I keep meaning to log: it used to be the
case that the network was brought up *before* processes were
restarted, now that doesn't seem to happen. (Not too sure
exactly when this change in operation came about, but things
used to work perfectly ... *sigh* ... You'll notice,
incidentally, that if your normal connection is wireless,
but you suspend from a wired connection and then resume back
in a wireless setting, checkgmail is immediately able to
check from mail - it's clearly a bug in the resume process.)

In any case, there's no problem with checkgmail except for
the fact that the network wasn't up when it checked - just
leave it for a bit and you'll find it's still running fine.
However, I do realise it's annoying not to immediately find
out how much mail you've received overnight - I have the
same problem myself!

Right now I've got no time to work on checkgmail, but when I
do I'm unlikely to look at dbus integration. And don't even
mention Network Manager to me (wanting to store network keys
in gnome-keyring, and yet at the same time claiming to be
desktop-agnostic!!) Sorry!

I actually do not know what I am using to hibernate (it is
built-in with Ubuntu Edgy). When I searched for swsusp2 in
the package manager, it didn't find anything, but it did
find swsusp, however it was not installed. I have
gnome-powermanager and it might be that, but I am not sure.

It is really no problem at all, I just wanted you to be
aware that the problem exists. It is already awesome the way
it is right now. Thank you very much for making it!
