For those who may end up volunteering for bug 21952 about "CGI::Session altering data for wrong behavior" Using the very little time I had available I tried to apply the = suggested patch, it worked except for sqlite driver, which didn't take it well. = But test script t/bug21952.t confirms the wrong behavior. So reversed the changes to the Session/Driver.pm, and left the test script at failing = state. The second bug that this report reveals is premature destruction of the driver object. I thought I could quickly fix this problem by turning the CGI::Session::Driver into a singleton, but unfortunately t/g4_mysql.t = test didn't take it well. So I guess the fix wasn't meant to be a quick one afterall, and decided = to let you guys know about my failure and findings, hopefully this report = will be of some use to someone. Hello, A lot of has happened with CGI::Session since the last release. Below is the list of changes. I'd like to get a new release out soon. However, even though I resolved numerous bugs tonight in the bug tracking system, there are still more list. I would like volunteers for people to work on a couple more in particular. CGI::Session alters data for wrong behavior http://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=21952 utf8 bug? http://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=21981 To help, just review the bug, add a comment, prepare a patch-- just pretend you are the maintainer...like I do. The answer is not specific to CGI::Session, but is one of how Perl's
data structures work. I recommend this:
my $href = $ses->param('test_time');
print $href->{e1};
This may also work:
print $ses->param('test_time')->{e1};
But I haven't tested it and find it less clear.

Hi! Though my last thought here on the list was useless since such a module has already been written, here are another two. Scenario: A user opens a web page, the server generates a session id and assigns this to the users browser to keep track of him. The user adds goods into his shopping basket and then logs in. For security reasons assign all users that log in a new session id, regardless of the old one (if it's valid and active or not). What about CGI::Session relieve the programmer of loading the session, saving the content, delete the old, create a new and insert the content of the old (except the old id) in the new one? Mentioning security, expire() provides a way setting soft timeouts: A user can extend the livetime by accessing a site each expire - 1 seconds. What about a hard timeout that can't be extended?
