Is there an option to copy (backup) a CD or DVD to an image file (.iso, etc) or to make an "on-the-fly" CD/DVD copy? Thanks.

Normally, a disc written with cdrtfe (which uses cdrecord) doesn't need to be fixated manually. The function 'Fixate CD' is only used to write a TOC to a disc which doesn't have one (e.g. by accident/error) or to close a disc which has been left open intentionally.

Creating an image from a CD/DVD:

Go to the 'CD image' tab and select 'Create image'. Set the appropriate options, specify the name of the image file and klick 'Start'.

To write such an image to a disc, use 'Write image' on the same tab.

The next version of cdrtfe will have an option to write the image file to a disc directly after it has been created.

An 'on the fly' CD/DVD copy function using two drives is currently not planned.

CD/DVD copying to image doesn't work -- or I'm not doing something right. I click "clone mode", then I try choosing the CD to directly copy to an image but it doesn't happen. When I click on the cd/dvd, it goes to the cd/dvd contents instead of selecting the cd/dvd to completely copy it. What should I do? Thanks.

Ok. I figured out what I was doing wrong and the cd/dvd copying to image (.iso) worked. One other question, when I burn the image (.iso) using the Write Image tab with disk-at-once option enabled, does it automatically fixate (close) the CD once the burning is finished or must I manually fixate (close) it after the cd/dvd is burned? Thanks.

Also, since we're on the subject of fixate (close), must I manually fixate every CD/DVD burned with cdrtfe (data, audio, image, etc) or does cdrtfe does this automatically? Thanks.
