hey ive loved using the program, but when i try to use it on x64 i get up to the part where it says "waiting to fill input buffer..." and then nothin ever happens.

i recall using the program on x64 successfully before, but i could just be melding memories.

any suggestions? is there a 3rd party cdrtfe for x64? am i just dumb?

For what it's worth, I'm running Vista x64, and managed to solve my problems with cdrtfe like this:

      1. Go into Local Security Policy, and set "Restrict CD/DVD ROM access to locally logged-in users" to "Enabled." This prevents cdrecord.exe from crashing and not seeing my drives.

      2. Replace the bundled version of cygwin1.dll (v1.5.14 in 1.3pre2) with the latest one I could find (1.5.24-2, as of this writing).

      Everything seems to work now.

First of all, it would be helpful to have some more information, e.g. version of Windows, cdrtfe, cdrecord and cygwin1.dll.

      Suggestions:

To test, if the problem is caused by cdrtfe or cdrecord (or cygwin) try the same commandline without cdrtfe, just from the command prompt.

Try another version of cdrecord and/or cygwin1.dll.

      i am using xp64 sp1, i don't know the build number

i tried it using the latest cdrtfe portable and installer downloads with no success.

after your reply i downloaded cdrtfe1.2pre2 standalone, and downloaded the components seperately from the links you offer in your /tools section. and it worked successfully.

i'm gonna do a few more tests with your new version over the next few days and report back.

      thanks for replying so quick.

i should also mention the things i got from the /tools page were all the latest versions

      cygwin1.dll 1.5.7
      cdrecord 2.01-dvd final

i use cygwin and wondered if that would conflict with using cygwin1.dll with cdrecord, but it didn't seem to be a problem.

so yeah i'll reply again after a few tries with the new version.

      > i tried it using the latest cdrtfe portable
      > and installer downloads with no success.

The installer version and the portable version are basically the same.

      > cygwin1.dll 1.5.7

This is a very old version of the cygwin1.dll. The cdrtfe distributions include version 1.5.14. The current version is 1.5.24.

      > cdrecord 2.01-dvd final

Very old. This cdrecord does not iclude the official DVD support. So some features may not work correctly. cdrtfe comes with cdrtools 2.01.01a32 (cdrecord, readcd, cdda2wav) and 2.01.01a17 (mkisofs).

      > i use cygwin

      Which version?

With version 1.3pre2 cdrtfe tries to avoid any version conflicts between different cygwin1.dll by using the DLL which is already present on the systen (if a cygwin environment is installed and reachable via the system's search path).

However, you can force cdrtfe to use the cygwin1.dll included in the distribution and to ignore any other DLLs. Copy all files from the folder tools and its subfolders directly into the cdrtfe program folder and rename or remove the empty tools folder.

      hey,

i unzipped the cdrtfe 1.3pre2 standalone and added components one at a time from the portable version. i had no success with the included cygwin1.dll (1.5.14) so i removed it and added my distros cygwin1.dll (1.5.24) into the search path.

      now it works perfectly

i don't think there was any conflict involved between the versions, because the old version and the newest version worked. i think my computer just doesn't get along with 1.5.14 for reasons beyond my knowledge.

thanks so much for helping me, i love this prog and am very happy to have it working again.
