Yes, I would agree with splitting it off into its own project.  Leave
CDRDAO as its own app.  I for one don't currently do X and would not
want to be required to have GTK and all that stuff installed just to
compile newer versions of cdrdao.  The zinf audio player is getting
that way and is not a good thing.
