We have a volunteer who would be willing to tackle this task if it is still active and clearly defined. AFAICS what you want is a menu item under Help that gives a directory listing of user.home (independent of the operating system) and allows you to interrogate the files underneath it and see their relevance to JCP (or possibly Jmol). If the user has no plugins then this menu would prompt them as to where to add the plugin without having to know about user.home, etc. Also is there any way that plugins can identify their purpose (e.g. a mini-help file) from information within the plugin *.jar file? This could be offered to the user to help them decide what the plugins were for. Does this make sense?
