Hi,
I'm using asahi linux on a MacBook Pro M1 with a retina display and the cesktopenv (current version). Now I need new classes :-( Very high resolution and very small widgets.
Scaling with xrandr --scale 0.8x0.8 (for example) failed. The original sddm desktopmanager seems to scale the screen correctly, but using xrandr in /etc/dt/config/Xsetup results in a black screen (until i reset the scaling using xrandr --output "None-1" --scale 1x1).
Does anyone has experiences with cde on the MacBook pro or with xrandr on asahi linux or a solution using the cde resources? I remember, that I've seen a Resource file with different setting depending on the screen resolution. But this was in the late 1990's :-(
Thanks for your support,
Bernd

I have a Surface Pro 4, with a 12-inch (?) 2736x1824 high-resolution display. I had tried to get CDE working on it before, but I couldn't, so I'm running FVWM2 on it now...
I was unable to make X scale for WM/DEs like CDE, FVWM, WindowMaker. For FVWM I simply made a new config with 2x the size for everything but I don't know what to do for CDE... I'd love to get CDE on my laptop too.

This is not exactly a solution, but my laptop's GPU was unable to handle high res anyway. https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=159064
I used the following method which lowered my laptop's resolution to 1/4, but now everything on screen looks very crisp with non-antialiased fonts :)

Would you be able to share a screenshot to see how high res without scaling is like?
it's attached. Thanks You!
The window in the foreground is an xterm with font "--lucidatypewriter-----34-"

The new asahi gpu driver supports scaling with xrandx.
