I'm running version 1.8-1 on Ubuntu 11.10 with the following packages installed:
- lib7zip_1.4.1-1_i386_oneric
- cdcat_1.8-1_i386_oneric
When I open "Exploration options" dialog, under "Scan for archive file list", i see:
"Supported extensions (li7zip library not found) ", but I've the library installed.

This was a issue of the lib7zip build. Please install p7zip-full and http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdcat/files/lib7zip/lib7zip_1.4.1-2_i386_oneiric.deb/download
