Hi,

I downloaded the just released CDAT-4.0, and did an
express_install. The DODS build failed and thus cause
the whole installation to fail. I'm attaching the build
log.

You may download some seperate DODS binary files from the
    ftp site
    "ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/dods/DODS-3.4/3.4.4/binary/".
The CDAT requires libdap++ from DODS but the released
CDAT-4.0 does not provide that libray file.
Try to download all the binray files from the above ftp site
and simply do the following steps:
    cd /usr/local
tar xzvf DDOS~.tar.gz (one at a time)

After that process, move to /usr/local/CDAT-4.0 (just in case).
    Try again ./express_install /usr/local/CDAT-4.0
    --dods=/usr/local/DODS
This may be the easist way to install successfully the CDAT-4.0.
