thanks for those people writing in about the problems that they have been
experiencing with running ccnet as a service using the 0.4.2 build.  sorry
that the response and patch has not been very forthwith.  anyway, i finally
had the chance to look into what the problem is.  it is related to some bad
configuration data in the ccnet.service.exe.config file (though in
self-defence, this is based on inaccurate documentation from MSDN).
please replace the <trace> element section in your ccnet.service.exe.config
file with the following xml snippet:

            <trace autoflush="false" indentsize="4">
                  <listeners>
                        <add name="EventLogListener"
type="System.Diagnostics.EventLogTraceListener" />
                        <remove name="Default"/>
                  </listeners>
            </trace>
