Hi Richard, Thanks for the feedback. >> * who pushes ASDF forward and in what direction? >> >> * how do we get ASDF to be included in all Lisp distributions? >> >> * how do we make ASDF better? > > I don't subscribe to the suppositions behind these questions, so I > cannot answer them. Hmmm, which suppositions do you not subscribe to? > As I've opined before, because ASDF is an important piece of > infrastructure in the community, my most important requirement is that > it remain compatible with itself. I agree that this is vital. Although I may be more willing to tighten loose specifications even if that causes some breakage in systems that are more "extravagent". I.e., if a system depends on some looseness in ASDF then I think it's OK if that system breaks as long as (a). the change in ASDF is actually of benefit and not just change for change's sake and (b). the system can be easily fixed and/or ASDF can be in run in compatibility mode... -- Gary Warren King, metabang.com Cell: (413) 559 8738 Fax: (206) 338-4052 gwkkwg on Skype * garethsan on AIM * gwking on twitter |
