C++: fontification hangs on inserting an opening square bracket ('[')

Hello Alan.

Recent version of cc-mode in the master branch sometimes hangs on insertion
of an opening square bracket ('['), entering into the infinite loop
somewhere in fontification code, the only method to break is kill -SIGUSR2.
I've managed to reproduce the bug in a simple case, the file attached to
this message. Attempt to visit this file leads Emacs to hang.
Remove an opening square bracket from the end of the line 2 and the file is
loaded OK.

Current configuration:
Emacs  : GNU Emacs 25.1.1 (x86_64-suse-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 3.16.7)
