Plumbing code effective 01/01/2017 apparently requires that all hot water pipe should be insulated. The "standard" DSM should be updated to match this requirement. DSM table in ACM will need revision.
Thanks for putting this together, I think it looks good and we will discuss it with Bruce’s team to discuss implementation. One comment I have is that I think we can get rid of the right column for system type 3&4, now that pipe insulation is mandatory.
The insulation exception if buried still applies.

I had a discussion with Danny and he agrees that the 2016 standard design should be based on a Dwelling Unit Distribution of “Pipe Insulation, All Lines” (no HERS) and still allow the extra credit if a user selects “HERS req’d Pipe Insulation, All Lines” for their proposed model.

ACM Reference Manual proposed edit to change distribution system langage in two places - single family and multi-family to:
Standard ([delete: the full length of the line from the water heater to the kitchen fixtures and all piping of nominal ¾” or larger diameter insulated with 1 inch of insulation] / insert: all pipes insulated).
Delete row Pipe insulation, all lines.

Ruleset mods checked into SVN @ r772.
Ticket should not be marked 'Verified' until ACM changes are complete and the rule mods are tested/verified.
2016 default and standard design DHW system dwelling unit distribution option (DHWSys:SystemType property) switched from 'Standard' to 'Pipe Insulation, All Lines'.

Need to think through this on EAA. Perhaps a new keyword like "Existing" or similar is needed to handle existing case where there is no pipe insulation installed

When issue documented, my description of the fix was not thorough enough. At this point only part way fixed - the standard design includes pipe insulation. It should also be:
When the user picks standard, it includes pipe insulation
The selection "pipe insulation, all lines" is removed
Pipe insulation, HERS verified, is the only pipe insulation option remaining.

call 6/27/17 - dwelling unit distrib. options (and corresponding DSMs) need to reflect updates documented in Word doc from MH attached above.
-OR- perhaps split out "pipe ins all lines" into prior checkbox...
more details to follow...

CEC decided to only implement the new DSM to account for the new pipe insulation requirements. These are listed in the documents posted by Ken Nittler on 2016-09-02. On the Dwelling Unit Distribution tab we would like the choice "Pipe Insulation, All Lines" removed from the list. Older jobs imported into CBECC-2016.3.0 with the dwelling unit distribution set as “Pipe Insulation, All Lines” should be remapped to “Standard”.

Remove "pipe insulation, all lines" as an option (for compatibility any files modeling this distribution system change to Standard), When a user models "Standard" distribution, it should include pipe insulation, all lines. Retain "pipe insulation, all lines (HERS)", Update Distribution System multipliers as noted in Marc Hoeschele memo (Table also attached). Todd, Larry, Danny, Dee Anne decision 6/28.
Here is a pdf and documents from an email from Marc Hoeschele from August documenting details of the pipe insulation changes

Larry to verify if standard is based on pipe insulation with or without HERS verification

To test this is working, I ran a file with pipe insulation as the distribution and standard is equal to proposed.

Fixed for new construction without changing DSM values.

Do not make any changes until discussed in weekly call.
