Enforcement of mandatory minimums:
Roof deck insulation - roof decks in newly constructed attic systems shall be insulates to achieve an area-weighted average U-factor not exceeding U-0.184.
(alter rule setting Cons:CodeUValueLabel to inform user of issue during input)
Ceilings and rafter roof insulation -
- In additions and new construction, ceilings and rafter roofs shall be insulated to achieve an area-weighted average U-factor not exceeding U-0.043
- In an alteration, ceilings and rafter roofs shall be insulated to achieve an area-weighted average U-factor not exceeding U-0.054
Wall insulation -
- 2x4 wood framed walls - shall have an overall assembly U-factor not exceeding U-0.095.
- 2x6 or greater wood framed walls - shall have an overall assembly U-factor not exceeding U-0.069.
- Opaque nonframed assemblies - shall have an overall assembly U-factor not exceeding U-0.102.
- Bay or Bow Window roofs and floors - shall be insulated to meet the wall insulation requirements of Table 150.1-A (prescriptive new construction)
- Masonry/Mass walls - shall be insulated to meet the wall insulation requirements of Table 150.1-A (prescriptive new construction)
Raised floor insulation - shall have an overall assembly U-factor not exceeding U-0.037
Fenestration (including skylights) - shall have a maximum U-factor of 0.40
Duct insulation -
- Ducts in conditioned space are not required to be insulated;
- All other ducts shall have a minimum installed level of R-6.0
Duct system leakage - shall not exceed 5%
SC system airflow rate and fan efficacy
- minimum 350 cfm/ton; maximum 0.45 W/cfm for gas furnace air-handling units
- minimum 350 cfm/ton; maximum 0.58 W/cfm for air-handling units that are not gas furnaces
