Is there a reason you're considering version 1? Version 2 has been
'Stable' for a while now, and was used extensively before that by a
pretty good sized community. Further, if I'm not mistaken, version 1
isn't getting any more patches - most, if not all, development effort
is on the version 2 (stable) and 2.1 (experimental) branches.
