F.Y.I. sent an email to the RRDTool mailing list and got a response. RRD's logic works thus: If either of the srcs are NaN (No Value) then the result of an addition between them is also NaN. The person included an example CDEF which will set a src to 0 if it's NaN allowing the graph to be generated correctly. I'm working on how to apply this to BUBBA.
