The GUI is much more user friendly, still a few things before general public but compared to 0.4.0 huge leap in a good direction ;) Haven't had troubles downloading anything and the upload feature now to help the community is nice. Thanks for the update :D

Unfortunately, the auto-upload feature does not appear to work. Even with the feature checked, my BT++ client appeared to remove completed torrents from my torrent list so that I could not tell if it was still being shared. In looking at my network monitor, BT++ didn't appear to continue to share my completed torrents.
This is a VERY big concern to me and many BitTorrent users out there who use BT on a daily basis. I implore you to fix this ASAP and get it corrected in the binary release as soon as possble because very day that this feature is missing means another day that someone is using software to disrupt the community. As more and more people start using BT++, more and more members of the BT community are unwittingly becoming leechers, and therefore hurting the speeds of the torrents.
It's one thing to make software that ALLOWS a person to set options that make themselves leechers, but it's entirely a much bigger problem to make them be leechers by it's use. You devs may not think this is an important issue, but to me it's the most important. BT is fast because we all share the load in distributing files. If by using BT++, a person cannot easily choose to help bear that load, then the BT community is already condemned to become like all the other file-sharing communities - slow and full of folks who don't give back.
Until this item is fixed, I do hope you know that those of us who administer Filesoup.com will have to educate the BT community about this problem and encourage them not to use BT++. I would love to see this fixed before we send out our newsletter on Saturday so that I have happy news to report on BT++, rather than having to say so much negative.

(I decided to signup for a Sourceforge account. I'm the Filesoup admin from before.)
This is not the first time I've been the first person to report a bug/problem with software. This is also not the first time that someone has used the reasoning that since I'm the only one seeing it, it must not be there. I've been a software tester for many games before - and there's been a lot of times where I have been the first one to find a bug. I admit it is because I am somewhat eccentric (OK, maybe anal) on setting preferences and testing things very deeply - doing complex things with complex software that maybe hasn't been tested before.
(To be fair, nobody, you aren't the first person to make that assumption when it's come to my reporting bugs. I had a project manager for a game in beta swear up and down that their server software was not causing login timeouts and that it must have been on my end. That was until about three months later when three other server admins later reported they were having the same problems. It was just my game server had more players than the others, so I found the bug first. They later tracked it to their encryption routine.)
I guess a lot of my problem and why I'm so vocal about this feature comes from being an avid user of DC++. I realize I may have projected unreasonable expectations on BT++ because of the strength of DC++. For this, I apologize, but you did know that taking upon yourself a similar name might invoke similar expectations. Also, as the admin of one of the busier public trackers, I also have to watch out for the interests of tracker owners..something that might not be well-represented on the forums of a client in development.
To be fair, I realize that this is alpha software. I understand that it's in testing, and that things might not be complete or working properly across all platforms or with all options. I don't think my setup is all that uncommon, but it still might be helpful in determining why my BT++ isn't uploading, as it may be a problem being experienced by others who are keeping silent because they don't care or don't feel like speaking out.
In my first test, I installed BT++ to my default directory (D:\Program Files\BitTorrent++), but had specified other directories for all four items in the preferences - all of them on another drive (C:). With the first test, as soon as a download completed, the download copied over from the temporary to the incoming directory and then the torrent disappeared from my BT++ window.
After the first test, I uninstalled BT++ and removed the directory and files it left in my Program Files folder. I then reinstalled it this morning to make a second test.
For my second test (the one I just finished), I installed the client to C:\bt++ and kept all the default preferences. With the second test, I downloaded two torrents, one of which was left as the original filename, which had some dashes and stuff in it. The second, I renamed to have only lowercase letters in the filename. The second torrent finished first. It had speeds of 40.3 down/21.1 up about 9 seconds before finishing (the first screenshot I took.) As soon as it was finished, it went to status Paused for a few seconds (Second screenshot) and then disappeared.
During this time, the first torrent was finishing. As soon as it was finished, it also went to Paused for a few seconds, then the status Paused for a few seconds, and then changed to Done. The speeds dropped to 0.0/0.0 and sat there. If it does happen to be continuing the upload, I don't see it doing so.
A little about my test system: I am running Win2K Professional on a 600 Mhz AMD Athlon with 128 MB of RAM (yes, I know - crappy system...got a mortgage to pay and a kid to feed..LOL.)
I didn't take any screenies of test one, but I have made several during test 2.
In addition to the three screenies of the BT client, I've also include screenies of my preferences (which are all defaults) and also uploaded my preferences.ini file. If it helps the developers in finding out why my setup isn't autouploading, I'll be happy to change more preferences and try again until this problem gets fixed. After all, I think most people would agree that I haven't done anything unreasonable with BT++ to break my copy on purpose...I just simply used options already there - and with the second test actually never touched an option.
Until it is fixed, please realize that I cannot recommend the use of the BT++ client to the BT community as a whole. It is my right to review software and give my opinion of it on my own site, whether users of BT++ agree with my opinion or not is their choice.
Techwid - as for never hearing of Filesoup, I'm not suprised. It's only been open since Feb 21st, so it's a fairly new BitTorrent site. I've not really told a whole lot of people (mostly a few mentions in IRC or in the Yahoo torrent-talk group), but we're still getting 7-13k pageviews a day and about 100 new members signing up every day as well. I'm glad it's small as I'm still developing features I want to include. I am not inexperienced at running online communities, although I must admit this is my first go at a BT community site. I am outspoken and don't tend to keep my opinions a secret - which may be a turnoff to some folks, but - alas - that's just me.

Ok first the reason its not uploading is because your looking at the wrong spot. The "history" tab keeps all files that are uploading. Probably not the most accurate name but thats where they are going. Also in your preferences I'm kind of surprised your torrent is working at all, you have all the folders left to default, I couldn't get mine to work at all unless I put a specifc path to the premade folders.
Hope that helps, however as your "recommendation" to you online community goes, there shouldn't be one. This isn't a general release like you said, its an alpha. Just for people to test get the bugs worked out and it all ready to go for public. It shouldn't be recommended to use yet as its not ready, if people wish to try it and make it better so it can be is good if not better as DC++. Anyways hope that helps.

If so, I would recommend they get moved to the main window so that autouploads could be cancelled after a person has felt they have shared long enough.
As for posting a public recommendation on my site: The thing is, BT++'s testing is open. Anyone can use it, and there are many people who do. If the devs were running a closed alpha test, then I wouldn't have been recommending that public BT users stay away from it because they couldn't even get it. Trust me - it's definately not a good idea to let the public get their hands on new software. Most of the FS users I talk to regularly that have used BT++ think it's "got a lot of potential, but way too buggy." That kind of reputation is hard to shake.
Most of these major bugs could be fixed with keeping the test a closed one with dedicated testers (like you and I, techwid) selected by the devs. By keeping it closed and keeping IM contacts, the devs could keep in touch with those testers who actively participate, and are willing to screen shot, test, retest, open debug windows, you name it. That kind of testing - from a development standpoint - is a whole lot more helpful than giving it to the world and waiting for feedback.
Just my 2 cents.

I really think though that if people like the features of BT++ they'll use it and like me bear through the bugs. They will eventually get fixed as this new release showed us, several bugs were fixed. While there are many a many people who use DC++ there are some, like I who don't. Never incredibly interested, but I love BT++ the GUI intereface and ability to download 10 torrents with 1 window is very nice.
Anyways, yeah clicking on history shows you the current uploads you are doing and the speeds they are going at, also if you wish in preferences you can put an upload cap on so that your network doesn't lose all its bandwidth (another awesome feature that I am very gratefull for). And yes, you can terminate the uploads when you feel you have shared enough. While this is buggy if you attempt to do any of the above and it fails, you can manualy kill uploads or downloads by simply removing the torrent from the folder you assigned in your preferences.
