#208 rt cause X crash on LINUX

Typing 'rt' from the mged command line intermittantly logs user out of machine.

Running BRL-CAD 7.12.6.
Machine: HP Compaq 6715b Notebook
CPU: AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-60 (2.0 GHz, 2 x 512 KB L2 cache)
GPU: ATI Radeon X1250
Memory: 2 GB 667 MHz DDR SDRAM
OS: Fedora 9
Kernel: Linux 2.6.27.12-78.2.8.fc9.i8686
Desktop: GNOME 2.22.3

Also problems running mged and archer at the same time.
