Blank preview with Briss 0.9

Use Briss 0.9 all the time and love it. Occasionally, though, I get a result that looks like this (attached image) when I create a preview. Any thoughts? I can provide the original PDFs if that would be helpful. (This post seems to only allow a single attachment.)
Thanks!
I also experienced a similar issue with one PDF, which happened to be version 1.6 produced by Konica Minolta and had already been cropped (at least, the pages were of different sizes). No problems so far with 1.4...
The pages were all separated and appeared very small, with a distorted and upside-down window on each one.

Please send the troublesome pdf to gerhard.aigner@gmail.com , I want to try if an update of the included libraries resolves the problem.
thx
The files are large, so I have sent you access to them via Google Drive. Hopefully that will work. Thank you for looking into this!
Did the files reach you?
It happened again this morning; I could be totally wrong, but it seems to happen with larger sheets in portrait orientation when the two captured pages are off-center. Having said that, I cannot think of any reason why these things would be relevant to briss.
I had the same problem with a 1.6 PDF, including the upside-down window. I converted the PDF to 1.3 using Ghostscript and it worked ok, using this command I found at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1343706 Doubtless you could use 1.4 too.
gs -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -dCompatibilityLevel=1.3 -dNOPAUSE -dQUIET -dBATCH -sOutputFile=output.pdf input.pdf
Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately your solve requires skills greater than I have. Also, I am on a Mac, so it seems as though some of the tools it requires are not available to me (?).
On 64-bit Windows 7 with the latest 32-bit Oracle Java JRE 7 release 45, I also get blank previews on both of the PDFs I've tried. But in a Ubuntu VM running on the same machine and using the open source JRE (NOT Oracle), it works fine.
FWIW, I experience the same problem with PDF Scissors, so maybe its something about the 32-bit Oracle JRE7 release 45 for Windows.
