How to register Microsoft Visual C++ Express

Microsoft Visual C++ Express is free for 30 days then you need to register to get a key to continue using it - this too is free. To register:

• Select Help => Register Product
• Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition Product Registration window appears.
• Click Register Now
• Web browser opens.
• Enter your Windows Live ID/Passport username/e-mail and password.
  • If you do not have one then you can sign up. This is free. They are similar to Google accounts.
• Complete registration form
• Wait for a confirmation e-mail
• Click the link in the e-mail
• Web browser opens with your registration key e.g. XXXXXX
• In Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition Product Registration, enter your registration key
• Click Complete Registration
• Click OK
• Check that it's registered:
  • Select Help => Register Product
  • You should get a pop up saying This product has already been registered
