Greg,

It looks like you have done the right things.  I have installed brewsta 
on fedora core 4 without problems.  It looks like it found wxpython ok 
but there is something internally weird with wxPython.  Is it possible 
there is an old version of wxPython kicking around?  I don't know my way 
around Gentoo very well.
