Hello Guys, I compiled the BOXP from source code. boxp_beta_7. I compiled the server in Release mode. Added the plugins and saved the server. Everything fine. But how will I start the binary? I clicked the boxp.exe It is not running. I tried it installing as service it gives error 1503. How will I start the boxp? It is not listening to any port and no trace of any binary. Just want to see it working. Any help appretiated. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Category: Client Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: auto installer Initial Comment: In the help section you mentioned that there is no stealth installer currently. okok, i know this is pretty lame, but anyway you can install it on another computer that u have physical access to in a matter of around 10 seconds. I attached an example. It was compiled using WinZip. Everything will be hidden but after unzipping the file to C:\WINDOWS, the unzipped file will automatically startup. There is a function there that can unzip whatever u want to the startup folder but I don't understand boxp so I don't know what to unzip. Hope the stealth installer will come out soon...anyway I won't use it :-) I only need this boxp for my brother's computer which is 1 meter away from mine...I'll just stick using the example I attached. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=671797&aid=1682969&group_id=115536 |

Category: Client Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Mickey Roberts (erus) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: bogui crashes sometimes when closing the server window Initial Comment: bogui crashes from time to time with an access violation error when trying to close the server window. The error is coming from the first line that follow: if ( !ctx->bSyncSvr ) api->pShowWindow( hDlg, SW_HIDE ); else api->pDestroyWindow( hDlg ); This bug is easily fixed as follows: // if not connected else { if ( !ctx->bSyncSvr ) api->pShowWindow( hDlg, SW_HIDE ); else api->pDestroyWindow( hDlg ); } If the server is connected, it hides/destroys the window a few lines up and then tries again here. This should only be executed when it's not connected it appears. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=671794&aid=1512953&group_id=115536 |

Task #122932 has been updated. Project: Back Orifice XP Subproject: FrameWork Summary: New Config Model Complete: 15% Status: Open Authority : j_aroche Assigned to: j_aroche Description: Well, isn't a good idead change the BOXP architecture every time, but it's to follow a best way... This is the first of many documents describing the next important/deep changes for the BOXP FrameWork. BOXP uses the old configuration model used in BO2K 1.0, it was good but now is too limited to handle the all our(my) new ideas. This model have the following rules: * The Variables block must start as "<**CFG**>Category\0", where 'Category' is the name of the variables block. * String configuration values are defined as "S:[length]:String Name=String Value\0". The length of the 'String Value' must equal the length defined between the brackets in order to be parsed correctly. * Integer configuration values are defined as: "N:[Lowbound,Highbound]:Keyname=Numeric Value\0". The length of the 'Numeric Value' must equal the maximum length of the number between 'Lowbound' and 'Highbound' in order to be parsed correctly. * Boolean configuration values are defined as "B:Key Name=Boolean Value\0". The 'Boolean Value' must be either single character '1' or '0' in order to be parsed correctly. * The Variable names are limited to 64 chars of length The limitations of this model are: * The variables are stored in many memory areas (inside the plugins). * Don't support binary values. * The string variable values are limited to a fixed size. * The variable names don't support multi languages. If translate the name, can't use the same value of the translated variable name. * The variable values can't be encrypted / compresed. * Plugins couldn't validate / police their configuration values. * Configuration variables values and properties are stored as strings, complicated to process and a waste of space. Therefore I've planned a new model for the configuration variables with the following changes: * Varaibles must have an unique Varible ID. The ID will be a string and passed to the functions to get/set the variable value or property. * Categories also should have an Category ID, so it's name could be translated. * Category properties: plugin ID which owns this category, could be stored in .INI file?, callback function to police the variable values. * The variable name is just the friendly name of it, it could be translated to other languages. * A callback function could be given to police / process the variables in the category. The prototype could be so: void *PoliceValuesFunction(GS *gs, CFGVAR *pvar, void *newvalue); We will pass the pvar argument contains the variable information an current value and newvalue cantains the new value that need to validated. If the returned value is NULL the value is rejected, else the value is changed. The function could change the value, like returning the MD5 hash of the value or it's compressed value. The function returns NULL to indicate that the value can't accepted as valid, like an invalid e-mail address. * The configuaration variables can't be strings anymore, must be structures to support new features and for better processing of them. * New variable type: Binary. To get or set the value must pass the lenght. - Javier Aroche BOXP Project Admin ------------------------------------------------------- For more info, visit: http://sourceforge.net/pm/task.php?func=detailtask&project_task_id=122932&group_id=115536&group_project_id=37920 |

I'm announcing an idea that will be welcome for the BOXP audience. It is = the service MyBOXP that is nothing more than a solution to the problem of= knowing the IP address of those servers that are not behind a public IP.= The servers will be connecting to our Web Server at time intervals and t= hey leave their address IP and the last time reported; each user logins i= n the service and see which of his servers is active. Our Web server is a= ctive 24/7, low boxp server traffic need, and it's free!. Easy and Comfor= table. I already began to work on this and so soon it is possible I will publish= it as Beta. Of course it continues as opensource even when uses PHP!; an= yone will be able to download the sourcecode and upload it in its own APA= CHE Server without trusting us their IP addresses, if he wants so. Of cou= rse the privacy will be maintained and we won't store the server's config= urations, the we only needs the server's name and its IP address, the con= figuration of this runs for his bill. Also I'm working in the BO Archives, a Tribute to Back Orifice. Javier Aroche |

Happy HalloweenThis is a great day, I'm preparing the new release of boxp= , the beta 8. For this release I'm planning the following tasks: Modify t= he configuation variables. We need to improve them to support multiple la= nguages, binary values, encrypted values and plugins that police their va= riables. (Critical) Improve the support for multi languages in Plugins an= d the FrameWork. The lack of support ot unicode could be a limitation.(Hi= gh) Client preferences dialog must be completed. This is done now. (High)= Change client workspace format to .ini style. (High) Complete cli_extend= plugin. The ServerList extension should sort the server list; and write = the help files. (Medium) Server should accept only local network connecti= ons. (Medium) small changes as always, new features and bug fixes. Help is always welcome, if you are a C++ developer and consider that you = could work on one of these tasks, please mail to j_aroche AT users DOT so= urceforge DOT net. Javier Aroche |

The idea is that you opens a por the client side that waits for the server connection. The server try to connect in a defined (by you) interval of time, is this what are you suggesting?
