Well after a review of the bootstrapper by the Automake and Autoconf development team, I was informed that the use of the bootstrap script is depreciated in favor of autoreconf. So I'm pretty much done developing this project. I hope to soon contribute to autoconf in order to make sure that all of the bootstrapper's useful functionality will be incorporated into autoconf.
I've recently been asked to make the bootstrapper part of the GNU project. As a part of this transition I have decided to turn over the Copyright to the Free Software Foundation.
I will be working to make the bootstrapper cooperate with all GNU software, most importantly Autoconf, Automake and Libtool. By the next release hopefully it will be an official GNU package.
I've just released v0.2Beta. Some of it's new features are shown on the yet uncompleted "Autoconfiscating the geek" page http://bootstrapper.sourceforge.net/index.php?name=geek
I was a little hesitant to move up to Beta Status, but considering the simplicity of this program, I don't think it will hurt. So far there's been almost 30 downloads. So I'm assuming some of you are actually using this program.... read more
So I see there have been a few downloads since I released. I have some changes already implemented in the CVS source and more plans on the way, but I'd really appreciate your feedback, even if it's just to say, hey I used it and it seems ok. Thanks
The first Alpha version is available for download. Anyone who feels like trying this out is strongly encouraged to send me some feedback. I'll also welcome any suggestions. Enjoy!
I've only had this project on to Sourceforge for a couple days now, but things are getting under way. I expect to have a very early release ready by this weekend, but if you really want you can browse the CVS at http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/bootstrapper/
