#125 Retrieving CD information with wrong encoding

Hello developers,

it is a nice tool. I've found an issue with encoding while retrieving CD information.

Characters like umlaute are not displayed correct. I've attached an screenshot.

Can you add unicode / UTF-8 support?

fre:ac definitely supports UTF-8 in CD information. Did you get the track information shown in the screenshot from the freedb database? If so, I suspect there was a faulty entry in the database.

Unfortunately, I cannot find an entry similar to yours in the freedb database. Can you provide more information about the CD (artist, album title)?

Or does this information come from CD-Text or from your cdplayer.ini file? Both technologies do not support UTF-8, so fre:ac expects them to be non-Unicode. It would be possible to add a heuristic to detect UTF-8 content in cdplayer.ini, but the current versions of fre:ac do not do this.
