Hi Robert, I hope I didn't miss some obvious help topics but I was wondering if it's possible to use the command line tool to do batch processing on a watch folder? Something like: freaccmd.exe -e LAME -o c:\output\ c:\input*.* Any file with a <filename> dropped in the input folder gets converted and output in the output folder. Best result would also be if the input folder would be cleared of all files that have been processed.. Thank you for your advice. Steven</filename>
Can't find a way to delete. EAC works great in WINE so I'll use that.
Running fre:ac on Endeavour OS/KDE Plasma. Loving it when it actually completes a disc, which is about 1 out of 3 or 4 tries. Different clean discs, different locations. I've tried the appimage and both freac and freac-bin from the Arch AUR with the same results. Suggestions for tracking down or fixing the problem?
sorry, what I see as the post is not formatted as I posted!
Hi, I setup Fre:ac on my neighbors computer. He has a lot of CDs. I set it to <albumartist>\<album>\<disc><track> <title></p> <p>He really got into it and also used Fre:ac using 3 of his other computers, but he used the default settings as he didn't know I changed the format on his first computer.</p> <p>All of the rips from those 3 computers have almost the same format, except there is the band name between the track number and the song title.</p> <p>I ran Fre:ac on my computer and unchecked Signal...

I converted a couple of mp4 files to wav files and lost 50% of the volume. Is there anyway to keep the original volume when converting with freac? I lose the volume when converting to any other audio format such as mp3 as well.

Hi, I've used fre:ac for years on my old (Intel) Mac without issue. I recently bought an M3 Max MacBook Pro running Sonoma 14.2.1. and installed fre:ac version 1.1.7. Every time I launch the program and click the "Add audio CD contents" button, the program immediately crashes with a "fre:ac - free audio converter quit expectedly" message. I've tried clearing the ~/Library/Caches folder, restarting the Mac, launching the program in Safe Mode by holding the left Shift key, and deleting/reinstalling...

i find the same problem when i try to convert aac file to Flac. probably it's a problem of tthe AAC decoder but i'm not sure.
Goodmorning. When i try to convert some AAC file in a 16 bit Wav file, the volume of the wav file is not the same of the AAC original (is very very lower). How can i fix it?
Nothing? Has anyone else had this same issue? Does the overwriting/deleting work for everyone else?
On one computer, I was somehow able to adjust the settings so that the converted file replaced the original source file after conversion. There's a message on the convert button, as seen in the attached screenshot. For the life of me, I can not replicate this in the settings on another computer. I have the output folder set as the same input folder, the "use input file if possible" and "allow overwriting input file" boxes checked and it still keeps the original source file after conversion and doesn't...
I love Taylor Swift's songs. However, after experiencing the inability to listen to her songs due to copyright issues, I was worried that I would not be able to listen to her songs again. Now I use DumpMedia Spotify Music Converter to download her songs.
I love listening to orchestral music, and I've recently downloaded my Spotify playlists to my local device with TuneSolo Spotify Music Converter so I can listen to them anytime, anywhere.
So far, love the tool. Have successfully used it for numerous "merges" to single file using the command line tool, however I am frustrated by an issue with the command line options The following works great... freaccmd --encoder=fdkaac -o "path\output.m4b" "path\to\source\*.mp3" which produces path\output.m4b The problem is that I need to manually specify the 'output.m4b' filename. The problem is that I need to manually specify the 'output.m4b' filename. The tool seems to have the concept of patterns,...

been using fre:ac on a Mac to rip cd to flac with no issues for some time. just started using it on a windows 10 machine. when i insert a cd, close the drawe and click to load cd contents to job list the cd drive opens and a message appears asking me to insert a disk if i close the drive the same thing keeps happening . if i manage to click the run button before the drive opens then the cd is ripped but this is not an elegant solution any ideas of what i can do to stop the drive opening ?
Guten Morgen ... Ich habe freac via snap installiert. Die Installation lief ohne Probleme durch. Als ich dann in der Konsole "freac" zum starten eingab, kam "comand not found". Ich habe es als User und root probiert. Wo liegt mein Denkfehler? Gruß Stefan
No, if no CD drive is connected, the eject button will do nothing.
When converting multiple input files/tracks to a single output file, the output file will contain a chapter per original source file/track. In other words, each joblist entry will become a chapter in the output file. fre:ac does not transfer chapters contained in individual files when reading chapters is disabled. I.e. when you add a file containing multiple chapters to the joblist while the option to read chapters is disabled and then convert the file, the output file will not contain chapters.
How does fre:ac know how to write chapters to files, particularly if you disable "Read chapters from files"?
If I don't have any CD's connected to my computer, does the eject button do anything in fre:ac?

SuperFast mode uses multiple instances of an encoder to speed up single file conversion. This is supported with the LAME MP3, Core Audio AAC/ALAC, FDK-AAC, Opus and Speex codecs. If you are interested in the technical details, you can find more information here and here. SuperFast mode only affects conversions where the number of output files is at most half the number of logical CPU cores in your system, so at most 4 files with your CPU. It's most useful when using the "Encode to a single file"...
In Resources, which codecs does "Enable Superfast Mode" Affect? Generally, what does it do, and is it worth using with a Intel Core i7-9700K CPU @ 3.60GHz
No, there is no real reason to turn off "On the fly" conversion on modern hardware. There is no risk of data loss. Some users turn this off to get both, WAV and compressed files in one go, but it's better to use the meh! multi encoder for this.
The button will try to query an online CDDB database (GnuDB by default) for title information for CD tracks in the joblist. If there are no CD tracks in the joblist or the information has already been queried, the button will do nothing. As fre:ac queries the database when adding CD tracks to the joblist by default, the button will actually do nothing in most cases.
When clicking on the icon for that, nothing happens. Not really sure what it's for or why it's there.
I know that disabling this setting creates temporary WAV Files. But is there any reason to disable it on modern hardware? Does keeping it on have a risk of data loss?
That's what FLAC is designed to do, shrink the file size without destroying any of the original audio. Hence being "lossless" compression format.
