I'm not sure either. Sean might have intended the bodington_2_9_0 tag to also represent the root of 
the 2_8 branch, but I think it's clearer with an additional tag.

I don't have a problem with the 'Root_branch_2_8' tag name (although it is a bit ugly). Isn't what 
it represents more obvious than 'bodington_2_8_0'?
