OK, you haven't said whether or not you've tried and have experienced 
performance problems ;-).

Anyway, in the general scheme of things, one is far more likely to 
encounter performance problems with the database rather than the servlet 
  container (if we're talking about bodington here!).

I presume you're running on JDK 1.5, anyway, the combination with that 
should mean that things are running faster than Tomcat 5.0 + J2SDK 
v1.4.2 anyway.

Other than that, I don't have any particular tips. I don't think it's 
generally regarded as a slouch in the performance department.
