I can't stand it any longer. The AUT action means that I can't write sarcastic notes at the bottom of my students' essays, so I am compulsively proof-reading everything. One of the many things that drives me batty is the misuse of it's. When you write it's you are writing the abbreviation for 'it is', not the possessive of it. The correct possessive is its (note the lack of an apostrophe). Have a look at one of the best books ever written - its author was very clear about the need for its creation as it's sorely needed. http://eatsshootsandleaves.com/esl.html Aggie |
