What I mean is in the bodington repository we have a file called

/extras/guanxi.war

that contains all the stuff that goes under the webapp for guanxi. Then 
at build time this war is unpacked ontop of /build/bodington to give a 
bodington+guanxi then the bodington war is created from this directory 
structure.

The reason for keeping guanxi in the source tree as a WAR is that it is 
an external project (like log4j) and we don't need to know it's internal 
workings. Then when a new version of guanxi is released the WAR file 
that is in bodington is upgraded.
