A great idea ++ from me.

But how about having 2 horizontal sections to the side panel, one half of
which changes according to room etc. I think if users see elements which
they find useful (e.g. google search, links to modules etc.) dissapearing
when they enter a room it could be confusing. Also, prevent them from
removing panel - it is only seen when they are viewing the resource menu
(and full screen width  isn't a priority here), when they are using a too=
l
such as logbook, webdoc etc it isn't there.
